১৯৮১ সালের কথা। ফরাসি প্রেসিডেন্ট ফ্যান্সিসকো মিত্রা ক্ষমতায় এলেন। মিশর সরকারের কাছে চিঠি গেল। তাদের হাজার বছর আগের ‘ফারাও’ (ফিরআউন) নামক শাসকদের মমিগুলো লাগবে। ফ্রান্স পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষা করতে চায়। মিশর সেই প্রস্তাবে রাজি হলো। পাঠিয়ে দিলো ফারাওদের মমি-কৃত মৃতদেহ।এই গবেষণার দলের প্রধান দায়িত্বে ছিলেন ড. মরিস বুকাইলি নামক একজন গবেষক। তিনি পেশায় একজন ডাক্তার ও গ্যাস্ট্রোএন্টারোলজিস্ট। কিন্তু গবেষণা করার সময় দেখলেন, ফারাওদের একজনের দেহে লবণের রেমনেন্টস আছে। মূলত তার মৃত্যু হয়েছিল সমুদ্রে ডুবে; এর স্বপক্ষে যথেষ্ট প্রমাণও পেয়ে গেলেন। সবচেয়ে আশ্চর্যের বিষয় ছিল, অন্য দেহগুলোর তুলনায় এই দেহটি অধিক সজীব। তিনি সিদ্ধান্ত নিলেন, এই গবেষণা রিপোর্ট প্রকাশ করবেন। কিন্তু বাঁধ হয়ে দাঁড়ালো খ্রিস্টান সহকর্মীরা। তাদের দাবী, তিনি যদি এই রিপোর্ট প্রকাশ করেন, তাহলে কুরআনের সত্যতা প্রমাণিত হয়ে যাবে। কিন্তু ড. বুকাইলির মন সায় দিল না। তিনি ব্যক্তিগতভাবে বিষয়টি নিয়ে মুসলিম আলিমদের সাথে বসলেন। এরপর জানলেন সূরা ইউনুস (১০)-এর ৯০-৯২ নং আয়াতগুলো।তিনি যেন আকাশ থেকে পড়লেন আয়াতগুলো শুনে! যে ফারাও-এর দেহ নিয়ে এতদিন ধরে রিসার্চ করছেন, তা সংরক্ষণের কথা স্বয়ং আল্লাহই চৌদ্দ শত বছর আগে কুরআনে বলে রেখেছেন। এই ঘটনা ড. বুকাইলির মনে গভীর দাগ কাটল। সিদ্ধান্ত নিলেন তিনি কুরআন নিয়ে গবেষণা করবেন। পরবর্তী দশটা বছর গবেষণার পর লিখে ফেললেন একটি চমৎকার গ্রন্থ, ‘কুরআন, বাইবেল এবং বিজ্ঞান।’
বাইবেল কুরআন ও বিজ্ঞান The Bible, The Qur’an and Science ড. বুকাইলির রচিত জগৎ বিখ্যাত একটি বই। যা তিনি ১৯৭৬ সালে প্রকাশ করেন। যেখানে তিনি বলেন যে কুরআনের কোন কথাই প্রতিষ্ঠিত বিজ্ঞানের সাথে বিরোধপূর্ণ নয় । এই বইটিতে লেখক জ্যোতির্বিদ্যা, ভ্রূণতত্ত্ব সহ আরো অনেক বিষয় থেকে উদাহরণ দেন যা ২০ শতকে ব্যাপক ভাবে সাড়া তোলে। তিনি বলেন যে কুরআনের বক্তব্য গুলো বিজ্ঞানসম্মত । যেখানে তিনি ইসলামে বিজ্ঞান ও ধর্মকে সবসময় “যমজ বোন” বলে আখ্যায়িত করেছেন । কুরআন যে ঈশ্বরের বাণী ,উপসংহারে তিনি তা যুক্তি দিয়ে প্রমান করার চেষ্টা করেছেন। এবং তাতে ২০ শতকের সবচেয়ে সুপ্রসিদ্ধ বৈজ্ঞানিক আবিষ্কারের কিছু বিস্তারিত তথ্য নির্ভুলতার সাথে বর্ণনা করেছেন ।

Original book is Bible, The Quran and Science by Dr. Maurice Bucaille. Maurice Bucaille was a French medical doctor and author. In 1973, Bucaille was appointed family physician to King Faisal of Saudi Arabia. In his objective study of the texts, Maurice Bucaille clears' away many preconceived ideas about the Old Testament, the Gospels and the Quran. He tries, in this collection of Writings, to separate what belongs to Revelation from what is the product of error or human interpretation. His study sheds new light on the Holy Scriptures. At the end of a gripping account, he places the Believer before a point of cardinal importance: the continuity of a Revelation emanating from the same God, with modes of expression that differ in the course of time. It leads us to meditate upon those factors which, in our day, should spiritually unite rather than divide-Jews, Christians and Muslims..
