গীতবিতান রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের সমুদয় গানের সংকলন গ্রন্থ। ১৯৩১ সালে (আশ্বিন, ১৩৩৮ বঙ্গাব্দ) এই গ্রন্থের প্রথম সংস্করণটি দুই খণ্ডে প্রকাশিত হয়। গীতবিতান প্রকাশের পূর্বে রবীন্দ্রনাথের ‘সমুদয়’ গান মোট তেরোটি গীতিসংকলনে ছড়িয়ে ছিটিয়ে ছিল। প্রথম সংস্করণে গীতবিতান গ্রন্থের বর্তমান পর্যায়বিন্যাস করা হয়নি। পরবর্তীকালে এই সংস্করণের সকল গান কবি ‘পূজা’, ‘স্বদেশ’, ‘প্রেম’, ‘প্রকৃতি’, ‘বিচিত্র’ ও ‘আনুষ্ঠানিক’ পর্যায়ে বিন্যস্ত করেন। এই বিষয়ানুক্রমে সজ্জিত হয়ে রবীন্দ্রনাথের মৃত্যুর পর ১৯৪২ সালে (মাঘ, ১৩৪৮) গীতবিতান গ্রন্থের দ্বিতীয় সংস্করণ দুই খণ্ডে প্রকাশিত হয়। বর্তমানে এই সংস্করণটিই প্রচলিত। ১৯৫০ সালে (১৩৫৭ বঙ্গাব্দ) কবির যাবতীয় গীতিনাট্য-নৃত্যনাট্য, ও অন্যান্য গ্রন্থের অসংকলিত গান নিয়ে গীতবিতান সংকলনের তৃতীয় খণ্ড প্রকাশিত হয়। সমগ্র রবীন্দ্রসংগীতের সংকলন হিসেবে আজও গীতবিতান বাঙালি সমাজে বিশেষ জনপ্রিয় ও সমাদৃত এক গীতিসংকলন। (Wikipedia)
Gitabitan ("Garden of songs") is a book forming a collection of all 2,232 songs (Rabindra Sangeet) written by Bengali polymath Rabindranath TagoreThe first edition of three volumes was published in 1931 and 1932, and contained the songs in chronological order. To make the collection more user-friendly, Tagore revised the book and arranged the songs by theme. The revised edition of the first two volumes was published in 1941, the year when Tagore died. Volume three, which included all of Tagore's dance-drama's, was published in 1950. In 1960 Visva Bharati published the Gitabitan as a single volume (Good Reads)
