Ekushey
Book Fair (Amar Ekusehy Grantha Mela) is national Book Fair of
Bangladesh. It is arranged and organized by Bangla Academy and duration
of the book fair is whole month of February. It is held in Bangla
Academy Area, Dhaka (Near TSC, Dhaka Univery). From 2014 the fair is
expanded in Shurayardi Uddan and road side of Bangla Academy. The fair
is also popular as Ekusey Boi Mela. The book fair is memories of
immortals of 21st February 1952. Now it is not only a book fair but also a culture of Bangladesh. The
book fair and event is dedicated to language martyrs who died in 21st
February 1952 for establish mother language, Bengali. Now the fair's
officially name is "Amar Ekushey Grantha Mela"
The month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2016 will begin on the Bangla Academy area and at Suhrawardy Udyan on 1st February 2016. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the fair at 3pm on that day, reports BSS. Ekushey Book Fair 2016 to be held this year on bigger area with participation of around 450 publishers. Bangla Academy has observed its 60th anniversary on Dec 3, 2015. The occasion will be celebrated throughout the fair.The Academy’s Director General Shamsuzzaman Khan said some 450 publishers would set up their stalls covering a total area of 478,000 square feet.
