যাযাবর এর দৃষ্টিপাত বিগত শতকের চল্লিশের দশকের দিল্লীর পটভূমিকায় লেখা। বিনয় মুখোপাধ্যায়ের ছদ্মনাম যাযাবর। তার লেখা দৃষ্টিপাতের প্রকাশকাল ১৯৪৭। বইটিতে নির্দিষ্ট কোন গল্প নেই। লেখক ইচ্ছাকৃতই হয়তো কাজটি করেছেন। গল্প না থাকার আড়ালে অনেক গল্প বলে গিয়েছেন। দিল্লীর রাস্তায় রাস্তায় ঘুরে খুঁজে বের করেছেন বিস্ময়ে চক্ষু বিস্ফোরিত হওয়ার মতন সব তথ্য, গল্প। বর্ণনার চমৎকারিত্বে, গভীর রসবোধে পুরো বই একেবারে ঠাসা।বইটির মুখবন্ধে লেখক বলেন, ক্রিপস মিশন সম্পর্কে লেখার জন্য বিলেত ফেরত এক বাঙালী যুবক বিদেশী পত্রিকার বিশেষ সংবাদদাতা হিসেবে দিল্লীতে যায়। সেখান থেকে তার বান্ধবীকে যে চিঠিগুলি সে লেখে - রচনাগুলি সেখান থেকেই সংকলিত। এক কথায় বইটিকে দিল্লির ডায়েরি বললেও ভুল হবেনা। দিল্লীর রাস্তায় অলিতে গলিতে যেখানে কিছুর দেখা পেয়েছেন সেটারই যেন পূর্ণ ইতিহাস তার মুখস্ত। মোঘল ইতিহাসের রোমাঞ্চকর ঘটনা গল্পের মধ্যদিয়ে পাঠককে বলেছেন। এমন কখনোই মনে হয়নি যে তথ্যের ভারে বইটি কারো পড়তে অনীহা জাগতে পারে।কথাগুলো যেন অতীব সত্য। গল্পের মাঝে মাঝে এমন কিছু লাইন আছে যা পাঠকের মন কাড়বে।
"দূরকে নিকট এবং দুর্গমক্র সহজাধিগম্য করেছে যে বিজ্ঞান, তার জয় হোক। এতে উত্তেজনা আছে কিন্তু উপভোগ নেই"। "বিজ্ঞান মানুষকে দিয়েছে বেগ কিন্তু কেড়ে নিয়েছে আবেগ"।
যাযাবরের মতন ঘুরতে ঘুরতে লেখক ফিরে আসেন ভারতবর্ষের মোঘল, কখনো বা রাজা বাদশাহদের গল্পে। সেখান থেকে ইংরেজ। আবার সেই ইংরেজদের সাথে মিল খুঁজে পেলেন ইসরায়েলের। গল্প পড়লে যে কেউ চমকিত হবে। এত ভালো উপমা আর তার সাথে বাস্তব তথ্যের সমাহার! (Book Review: Somewhere in Blog)
