‘আমার দেখা রাজনীতির পঞ্চাশ বছর’ নাম শুনলেই বুঝা যায় , বইয়ের বিষয় কত বিশাল । ১৯ শতকের প্রথম দিকের গ্রামের জমিদারি প্রথার বর্ণনা দিয়ে বইয়ের শুরু আর শেষ হয়েছে ১৯৭৩ সালে বাংলাদেশের প্রথম সাধারন নির্বাচনের মধ্য দিয়ে । আবুল মনসুর আহমদ শুধু একজন সফল রাজনীতিবিদই নন , বাংলা ভাষার অন্যতম সাহিত্যকও বটে । রাজনৈতিক স্যাটেয়ার লেখায় তার উপরে কেউ যেতে পারে নি । তার লেখা “আদু ভাই” বাংলা ভাষার অংশ হয়ে আছে । দীর্ঘ রাজনৈতিক জীবনে তিনি কৃষক প্রজা পার্টি , কংগ্রেস , মুসলিম লীগ আর আওয়ামীলীগের সদস্য ছিলেন । ১৯৫৪ সালে যুক্তফ্রন্টের ২১ দফার রচয়িতা তিনি । পরে পাকিস্তানের শিল্প ও বানিজ্য মন্ত্রণালয়ের মন্ত্রী ছিলেন ।
অনেক বিখ্যাত রাজনীতিবিদের কাছ থেকে দেখেছেন । তাদের কাজকে যেমন প্রশংসা করেছেন , তেমনি দরকার পড়লে সমালোচনা করতেও দ্বিধা করেনি । এই বইটা আসলে এই কারনে অন্য সকল রাজনৈতিক বই থেকে আলাদা । বইটা পড়ে যে কেউ শেরে বাংলা এবং সোহরাওয়ারদিকে নতুন ভাবে চিনবে । বাংলার রাজনীতি যে তাদের কাছে কতভাবে ঋণী , এই বই না পড়লে তা চিন্তা করাও কঠিন ।
দ্বিজাতি তত্ত্ব , লাহোর প্রস্তাব আর দেশভাগ সম্পর্কে জানার জন্য এই বইয়ের কোন বিকল্প নেই । আমাদের সমাজে দেশভাগ নিয়ে যে কত মিথ ছড়িয়ে আছে , তার একটা পর্যালোচনা পাওয়া যাবে । সমাজের পদে পদে হিন্দু মুসলমানের মধ্যে যে বিরোধ আর অবিশ্বাস সৃষ্টি হয়েছে , দেশভাগ ছাড়া যে তা মিটানো সহজ ছিল না , বইয়ে তার অসাধারন বর্ণনা পাওয়া যায় ।
বইয়ের শেষ দিকে বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতা আর মুক্তিযুদ্ধ নিয়ে তার যে বিশ্লেষণ , এক কথায় মাস্টারপিস । বিশেষ করে কিছু উৎসাহী মানুষের কারনে যে , বাংলাদেশের সামনে বিপদ আছে , তারও উল্লেখ পাই বইয়ে ।
সত্যি কথা বলতে পঞ্চাশ বছরের রাজনীতির জন্য ৬৮১ পৃষ্ঠার বই কম হয়ে যায় । মাঝে মাঝে এমন কিছু ঘটনা বা ব্যাক্তির নাম আসে , যার বর্ণনা হয়তো সাধারন মানুষের জানার বাইরে । বইটা আরও বিশাল হলে মন্দ হত না । (Goodreads Review)

Abul Mansur Ahmed is Bangladeshi litterateur, Journalist and Politician. He was born on 3 September 1898 in Mymensingh, Bangladsh and died on 18 March 1979. He studied law in Kalkata. During 1929-1938 he practiced law in Mymensingh. Later, worked at Kolkata as a professional journalist and a political activist until the 1947 partition. He worked for The Krsak, Navayug, Ittehad, Soltan and The Mohammadi.
