বাংলা সাহিত্যের অন্যতম শ্রেষ্ঠ কবি হলেন জসিম উদ্দিন, তিনি ১ লা জানুয়ারি ১৯০৩-এ জন্মগ্রহন করেন এবং ১৯66 সালের ১৩ ই মার্চ তাঁর মৃত্যু হয়। তিনি একজন প্রসিদ্ধ কবি ছাড়াও ছিলেন গীতিকার, উপন্যাসিক ও লেখক। বাংলাদেশে তাঁর পরিচয় 'পল্লী কবি' হিসাবে। তাঁর কবিতা ‘কবর’ বাংলা সাহিত্যে একটি অবিস্মরণীয় অবদান।
বাঙ্গালীর হাসির গল্প বই দুটিতে তিনি গ্রাম বাংলার প্রচলিত মজার সব গল্পের সংকলন তিনি করেছেন যে গুলো লোক মুখে শোনা যায় এবং ধীরে ধীরে হারিয়ে যাচ্ছে। গ্রাম বাংলার ঐতিহ্য ও গল্প গুলো তিনি নিপুন হাতে লিখেছেন। গল্প গুলো ছোট বড় সবার ভাল লাগবে এবং হাসির খোরাক যোগাবে।
